MY STORY

A practice that grew
into a way of life.

I’m Max, a Qigong and Yoga teacher with a love of nature, nourishing food and helping people feel more at home in themselves.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Looking for relief.
Finding my Qi.

I first discovered Qigong at 21, during a time when I felt unwell, unhappy and disconnected. I noticed a difference from those first sessions, and it soon became a daily practice. I began to find a sense of peace and a closer connection with my body.

Over time, I learned to notice the subtle sensations of Qi and became fascinated by the ancient wisdom of Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine. At 26, I travelled to Bali to train with Forest Rock Qigong. Studying movement, breath and the philosophy behind the practice deepened my connection and inspired me to teach.

Since then, I’ve shared Qigong through classes and retreats in the UK and abroad. I continue to learn, explore and bring that curiosity into my teaching.

ALWAYS A STUDENT

and passing it on.

QIGONG TEACHER TRAINING

Forest Rock Qigong, Bali

July 2024, I travelled to Bali to complete my Qigong teacher training with Forest Rock Qigong. Immersed in nature for one month, I had the opportunity to devote myself more fully to a practice that had already become an important part of my life. The training brought together Qigong forms, breathwork, meridian theory and the philosophies behind the movements. It deepened my understanding of the relationship between body, breath and intention, while giving me a foundation from which to begin sharing the practice with others.I trained in and now teach six Qigong systems: Shi Ba Shi (the 18 Forms), Ba Duan Jin (the Eight Brocades), Long Life, Five Element, Heaven to Earth and Zhan Zhuang. I remain a student too, continuing to explore different Qigong systems and energetic practices.

YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

Shades of Yoga

In February 2026, I returned to Bali to complete my Hatha Yoga teacher training at Shades of Yoga. The training explored good alignment, variations for different abilities and ways to adapt postures around injuries, helping me develop a more thoughtful and adaptable approach to teaching.Alongside the physical practice, we studied Yoga philosophy, Ayurveda and the chakra system. This deepened my understanding of Yoga’s wider traditions and complemented my background in Qigong, bringing fresh perspectives to my own practice and the classes I now share.

OFF THE MAT

Nature, nourishment
& a curious spirit.

I also have an interest in plant medicines and enjoy holding space for cacao ceremonies. Cacao has been a meaningful part of my own healing journey; for me, preparing and sharing it is a ritual that invites reflection, warmth and connection.

Meditation and breathwork weave through my practice too, and I include them in my classes and retreats. These practices have brought a great deal to my life, and sharing them has become one of my greatest joys.
